About Anjelah Johnson

Anjelah Johnson was born and raised in San Jose, California and is of Mexican and Native American descent. She got her start as a Pop Warner cheerleader and continued cheering through high school, college and then professionally for the Oakland Raiders. As an Oakland Raiderette, she was named "Rookie of the Year" and performed in Super Bowl XXXVII.

Anjelah became an internet sensation in 2007 with her viral video "Nail Salon," which led to many stand-up and performance opportunities. That same year she joined the cast of "MADtv" as a series regular, which spawned another internet sensation "Bon Qui Qui." This original character -- a disgruntled fast food employee with no filter -- became so popular that Anjelah recorded and released a full length rap song and music video as Bon Qui Qui. Additionally, she is the spokesperson for the Texas-based restaurant chain Taco Cabana. Anjelah has also guest starred on "The Shield," "Ugly Betty," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Love Inc." In 2007, she co-starred with Gabrielle Union in the feature film "The Box."

In 2009, she recorded a one-hour stand-up special for Comedy Central and Warner Brothers Records. "Anjelah Johnson: That's How We Do It" is available on DVD.

In 2010, Anjelah starred in "Our Family Wedding" alongside Carlos Mencia, Regina King and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. She played the feisty sister of America Ferrera in this comedy highlighting the perils and joys of combining families. Johnson also appeared as a live action character in 2009's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel" alongside Jason Lee and the voices of Justin Long, Anna Faris and Amy Poehler. Anjelah additionally leant her voice to the animated film "Marmaduke" along with Emma Stone, Owen Wilson and Jeremy Piven.

As a wildly successful stand-up comedian, Anjelah has had the privilege of performing for the troops in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. She continues to tour the country, playing to sold-out comedy clubs including Cobb's, the Punchline, San Jose Improv, Irvine Improv, Ontario Improv, Brea Improv, Houston Improv and Miami Improv. Anjelah resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Manwell Reyes of the band Group 1 Crew.
