Born in the Bronx, Robert Schimmel's "big break" came in 1986 when Rodney Dangerfield invited Robert to perform on his HBO Young Comedians Special (also debuting Andrew "Dice" Clay, Bill Hicks, Dom Irrera, and Carol Leifer), which led to his critically-acclaimed Showtime specials Hard Core in the Big Apple and Robert Schimmel: Guilty As Charged.
