Remedying the Digital Disconnect

Have some shame: Don't be up Facebook's butthole all the time.

Abbi and Ilana do their fair share of video chatting and catching up via text, but even these young, tech-savvy New Yorkers need to disconnect every once in a while. Take a few tips from the gals and learn how to unplug from the Matrix.

  1. GO AU NATURAL

En route to a dog wedding (yep!) in Central Park, the girls decide to ditch their phones and use old-school navigation (i.e., intuition). Reconnecting with nature may not always be pretty, but it’s what our foremothers did.

  2. FIND AN URBAN OASIS

After renting out their apartments to tourists on B&B-NYC, Abbi and Ilana get creative while looking for a spot to crash. The two eventually set up camp on Ilana’s roof, proving that if even New York City, you can go off the grid — If you’re lucky enough to get low wind conditions.

  3. SOCIALIZE THE WAY HUMANS ARE MEANT TO

Instead of on online following, opt for the real thing. Trapped indoors during a hurricane, the girls and their friends bond over a game of Never Have I Ever. When you’re with the right people, you don’t need electricity to have a good time.

  4. DATE IN PERSON

Sliding into a crush’s DMs may work for some, but not everyone spits their best game over the web. After a few cracks at Facebook flirting, the girls decide to try IRL face time with potential hookups. After all, the internet is so 90s.
