Mr. Minhaj Goes to Washington

The Daily Show’s Hasan Minhaj will host the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

It’s official: The Daily Show’s very own Hasan Minhaj will lead the festivities at this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 29. Minhaj follows a long line of comedians who have roasted the capital’s elite at this annual event. But this year will be just a little different since, unlike previous presidents, Donald Trump and his entire staff have decided not to attend. (Was it something we said?)

Trump or no Trump, Minhaj is forging ahead, and he has plenty of experience covering the orange mogul’s controversies. Here’s a taste of the kind of digs you can expect when Minhaj takes the stage later this month.

ABOUT THAT MUSLIM BAN…—president-trump-s-de-facto-muslim-travel-ban
Trump’s travel ban targeting Muslim-majority countries is still in legal limbo, but Minhaj’s “Hasan the Record” segment from January highlights just how possible it would be for the discriminatory restrictions to make it through the court system.

The day after the 2016 election, Minhaj joined Trevor at the desk while emotions were still raw to express his bafflement at the fact that America had elected a racist to the highest office in the land.

AND OF COURSE, WHITE ISIS–the-white-isis
Here it is. No list of Minhaj’s best moments covering Trump would be complete without this immortal takedown of then-candidate Trump’s call for a ban on Muslims entering the U.S. It takes some balls to dub someone “White ISIS.” So, nah, we’re not worried about Minhaj’s ability to bring it at the Correspondents’ Dinner.
