If you’re not in the know, allow Problematic to fill you in.

Cultural appropriation: Perhaps you’ve seen the term in articles about Iggy Azalea or what white people wear to Coachella, and you’re wondering what it means.

So think twice before you decide to wear a Native American headdress or braid your hair into cornrows — especially if you’re white. Do your due diligence. Research the historical significance of these fashions and talk to people within the cultures that created them.

Or, better yet, just don’t do it. The Instagram likes aren’t worth it.
