Quirky Holidays – Buddy Up to Friendship Day

And if your friends are jerks, the good news is that it's only one day.

Who doesn’t love the holidays? They’re a great excuse to unwind — and if you do it right, eat way too much dessert and pass out on the couch. Unfortunately, there are loads of great holidays that people don’t know about. These holidays get celebrated on social media, sure, but major players like the federal government and calendar publishers routinely ignore them.

That’s where our Quirky Holidays article series comes in. (It may not be a day off from work, but at least you can kill time reading it at your desk.) Today we’re celebrating Friendship Day. And if you’re not sure how to observe the holiday yourself, we strongly recommend trying one of these.

  • PLAN FOR THE FUTURE

You can’t find a closer set of friends than Abbi and Ilana. But through a slip of the tongue, even the strongest friendship can be elevated to a whole new level of commitment. Or not. You probably want to read the room on this one.

  • UNWIND WITH YOUR CREW

The Workaholics guys stick together no matter what. Their secret? Spending quality time on the roof and affirming that they are, indeed, dem boyz.

  • HUG IT OUT

Sam and Tim, two of Detroit’s finest ad men, never hesitate to show their mutual affection. And — especially on Friendship Day — neither should you.

  • SHOW YOUR AFFECTION PUBLICLY

    Or don’t. Totally your call.

  • FINISH THE DAY RIGHT

We can’t think of a better way to end a perfect Friendship Day. See you next year, buddy.
