3 Tips for Throwing the Halloween Party to End All Halloween Parties

We'll teach you how to have the spookiest soirée this side of the solar system.

The season for scares is upon us, and the Halloween parties on your calendar are as plentiful as they are stale. It’s always the same ol’ thing: a few topical costumes, one or two renditions of your favorite spooky song, blah, blah, blah.

How do you make your gathering stand out from the pack? Lucky for you, we’ve devised some party tips that’ll make other Halloween parties look like the orange-and-black baby parades that they are.

1. ROLE-PLAY YOUR HEART OUT

Once you’ve settled on costume you want to wear, it’s time to talk about your character. It’s not enough to simply portray a monster, animal or TV character – you must embody them. Their personality, mannerisms, smell (if applicable), everything. For Blake here, that means embodying a bear that says, “Fur sure,” which isn’t very realistic and isn’t scary but you get the idea.

2. FAKE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY AROUND YOUR HOUSE

Nothing screams “Halloween spirit” like an extreme fear of the supernatural. Our recommendation? Pay a psychic to visit your party and claim that there are evil entities lurking everywhere. (Note: Depending on how many of your guests believe in ghosts, this might kill your party as people flee in terror, but don’t worry — the ones who remain are the true Halloween-heads anyway.)

3. THROW ON A HORROR MOVIE

Playing a horror flick in the background charges the gathering with an eerie atmosphere that’s tough to replicate. There’s no downside because there’s no way you’ll get too scared and freak out… right?
