Spending time with family is wonderful, but sometimes it’s so wonderful that it leaves you half-crazed and foaming at the mouth. This is especially likely during the holidays, and even more so during Thanksgiving. But it doesn’t have to be this way! As long as you keep your mind active and follow our lead, you might just make it out of your hometown in one piece.
When you visit your parents’ house, it’s kind of like stepping into a time machine and going back into your teens. So why not lean into it? Rifle through your old stuff, spend too much time in your room, and listen to the music that defined your high school years. After all, you can’t be stressed out while you’re thinking about jam bands.
HANG OUT WITH FRIENDS
The upside of returning to your hometown is getting to spend time with old friends. Dishing, B.S.-ing, remembering why they drive you crazy, going crazy all over again. Fun!
SET ASIDE TIME FOR FAMILY ACTIVITIES
We don’t want to sound down on spending time at home. But when your days with the family are unstructured, it can feel like… well, a lot. Activities, be they sack racing or playing with some nice dogs, can help. So go on! Get the family together, and have a wholesome, stress-free holiday.
