John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show

W. Kamau Bell

W. Kamau Bell was recently honored as the 2008 Bay Area Comedian of the Year by the San Francisco Weekly. His television appearances include Comedy Central╩╝s " Premium Blend" and Comics Unleashed. He just recently found out that the he was the first stand-up comedian on Comedy Central to tell a Barack Obama joke --- waaaaaaay back in 2005. Also in 2005 Kamau was also chosen to appear at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, and was the only comedian invited to perform on both The New Faces Show and The Best of The Uptown Comics Show. He was featured in the book "What Would Bill Hicks Say?" Kamau can be heard on radio station Live 105 and online at Roof Top Comedy, as half of the rant and rave team, Siskel and Negro.

Currently, can be seen on FX in his own talk show, "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell." He has been profiled in The San Francisco Chronicle on four different occasions, including not ironically during Black History Month, and most recently Kamau was featured in the very same edition of the newspaper that announced Barack╩╝s historic victory. The SF Weekly called Kamau, "smart, stylish, and very much in the mold of politically outspoken comedians like Dave Chappelle and Margaret Cho", although he was more excited that they called him "handsome". Kamau is also the co-founder of the Solo Performance Workshop.
